The "Big Bad Wolf is coming to town again for the second year with more than 1 million BOOKS up for grabs at huge discounts of 50% to 90% off recommended retail price.

(August 2, 2019) Cebu, Philippines- After the great success of its previous visit to Cebu, the World's Biggest Book Sale makes a big return to the city with more books and titles to choose from. The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will open its doors to book lovers for 24 hours non-stop from August 16 to 26, 2019 at the IEC Convention Center (IC3), Pope John Paul II Avenue, Cebu City, and entrance is FREE.

Readers can expect over 1 million brand new English books with multiple genres ranging from fiction, non-fiction, children's books, and rare titles. It will also be rolling out books with augmented reality technology called Magical Book that encourage kids to interact, read, play and learn using cutting-edge technology. Showcasing 12 titles ranging from fairy tale stories such as Cinderella, Red Riding Hood along with educational books such as Let's Learn ABC, parents will be able to encourage their children to start reading by using the Magical Books.

Our first trip to Cebu last year was a big success as we had over 200,000 visitors flocking through the Book Sale choosing their gem and since then we've heard many requests from readers over the past year to bring back the Sale here. We're more than glad and excited to return to Cebu, and creating this platform to inspire people and empower them with knowledge, said Jacqueline Ng, Founder of Big Bad Wolf Books.

Bookworms can have first dibs on their favorite titles during the Sale's exclusive VIP Day on August 15. Over 4,000 VIP passes will be up for grabs on its Facebook and Instagram page in the days leading up to the event.

"We've been to many places in the Philippines these past two years from Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Pampanga. It has been amazing to see droves of people, young and old, come together for the love of books. It surely affirms that reading is a beloved hobby, very much alive, and an effective tool for learning," Ng added.

Aside from bringing the best in quality English books to all book lovers, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale also believes in giving back to the society through the partnership with Gawad Kalinga to furnish Gawad Kalinga's (GK) community libraries and schools with more books. The partnership aims to encourage reading, improve literacy, and provide learning opportunities. To kick-start the initiative, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Cebu will be donating 500 books and customers are also enjoined to take part in the advocacy and donate books at the Sale.

In 2019, over 6,838 books were donated to GK partner communities, libraries and schools around the Philippines during the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale in Manila, while 2,515 books were donated through the Sale in Pampanga.

"Big Bad Wolf Books always makes sure to give back and help make a difference in every place they visit. We share in their advocacy and are grateful to have worked with them since their very first Sale in the country. Dozens of partner communities around the country have benefitted in their work to promote literacy and education with both children and adults discovering the joys and benefits of reading as we believe reading is meant for all, regardless of their status," said Gawad Kalinga representative Toby Florendo.
"We hope that this Sale will encourage more people to read. Books not only give new and fresh perspectives, they are also a great source of knowledge and wisdom. One book can make all the difference in one's life and the world and we are aiming to change the world, one book at a time," Ng said.

Now in its 10th year, Big Bad Wolf Books aims to encourage reading by providing high-quality English books at low prices, with Sales in more cities in countries such as Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

It debuted in the Philippines in February 2018 in Manila, followed by Cebu in July and Davao in November. Its most recent Sale brought Big Bad Wolf Books back to Manila last February and Pampanga last month.
